There's no place like home for Weslaco East, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They put the hurt on the Edcouch-Elsa Yellowjackets with a sharp 10-4 victory on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Aubrey Zuniga made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Zuniga was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs and five RBI while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sydni Morales, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Angelica Herrera was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Weslaco East lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Edcouch-Elsa didn't launched any home runs.
Weslaco East pushed their record up to 15-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Edcouch-Elsa, they moved to 14-5 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Edcouch-Elsa will square off against rival Harlingen South at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Yellowjackets 3.8, the Hawks 1.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
