While Sunnyside put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Rincon/University. The Blue Devils were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over the Rangers. With that victory, the Blue Devils brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.
ALFREDO ENCINAS made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. ENCINAS was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.
In other pitching news, EMRICK THOMPSON looked comfortable as he went 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, JORGE RUIZ was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in February.
Sunnyside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rincon/University only posted an OBP of .167.
Sunnyside has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Rincon/University, they dropped their record down to 4-16 with the defeat, which was their 19th straight on the road dating back to last season.
