The South Bulldogs won the last time they faced the Briggs Bruins, and things went their way on Friday too. South enjoyed a cozy 59-45 victory over Briggs. Given South's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 154th, while Briggs is ranked 680th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
South's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Chris Stokes led the charge by scoring 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lajames Washington, who scored 15 points.
South's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Briggs, they bumped their record down to 2-8 with that loss, which was their third straight at home.
South won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Hilliard Bradley at 2:45 p.m. on January 6th. Hilliard Bradley is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games. As for Briggs, they will head out on the road to face off against Eastmoor Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
