Zionsville's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. Everything went their way against Guerin Catholic as they made off with a 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won nine games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Kristin Evers looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sylvia Mudis, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Hadley Bray was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one RBI.
Zionsville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .536. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Guerin Catholic only posted an OBP of .118.
Meanwhile, Avon lost a heartbreaker to Center Grove when they met back in April of 2024, and they left with a heavy heart again on Monday. The Orioles fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 10-9. The Orioles have struggled against the Trojans recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meeting.
Regan Cooper made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilly Heath, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Zionsville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Avon, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-14.
Tuesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Zionsville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .358. However, it's not like Avon struggles in that department as they've averaged .322. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
