The Hondo Owls had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.5 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They snuck past Crystal City with a 47-43 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Hondo also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Crystal City lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Lyndsie Bosquez, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Bosquez hasn't dropped below 15points for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Riyannah Mena, who scored 13 points.
Hondo is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. As for Crystal City, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-13.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hondo will take on Lytle at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Lytle's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matchups. As for Crystal City, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cotulla at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cotulla is hoping to put an end to a nine-game streak of away losses.
