Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up 11 more assists than your opponent, a fact the Desert Christian Eagles proved on Saturday. They secured a 53-48 W over Fountain Hills.
Adam Valvala continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 18 points along with six assists and three steals. Those 18 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Tyson Dobbins, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Despite the loss, Fountain Hills still got an impressive performance from Keaton Ort, who scored 24 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Heaney, who scored six points along with seven rebounds.
Desert Christian is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for Fountain Hills, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Desert Christian is on the road again on January 8th and play against Madison Highland Prep at 7:00 p.m. on January 8th. Madison Highland Prep is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. As for Fountain Hills, they will head out on the road to face off against Chino Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Chino Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 304th, while Fountain Hills is ranked 102nd).
