On Saturday Avalon take on Brethren Christian at 12:00 PM. If you head out to watch the game, expect to stay the whole 48 minutes: the MaxPreps national rankings predict a close match.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Avalon ultimately got the result it was hoping for last week. They got past Rolling Hills Prep with less than a touchdown to spare, ending up at 32-26. No one put up better numbers for Avalon than senior Jason Campos, who brought his A game into the match. He rushed for 151 yards and 3 touchdowns. In fact, with 10 tackles Campos was a force on both sides of the ball.
Meanwhile, their game two weeks ago wasn't at all kind to Brethren Christian, but their most recent contest may have softened the blow. They took their match against Lutheran by a conclusive 36-6 score.
Their wins bumped Brethren Christian to 1-2 and Avalon to 2-0. The Avalon defense got after the quarterback against Rolling Hills Prep to the tune of 5.0 sacks, so Brethren Christian's offensive line better have put in some good practice this past week in preparation for the game.
