Stewarts Creek has been on the road for nine straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Cookeville Cavaliers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Tuesday, Stewarts Creek was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 74-73 to Smyrna.
Meanwhile, Cookeville can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent matchup two weeks ago. They put the hurt on Wilson Central with a sharp 68-46 win. The win was familiar territory for Cookeville who now have five in a row.
Cookeville got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jack Oakley out in front who scored 18 points. Oakley has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Joshua Heard was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Stewarts Creek now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Cookeville, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-3.
Stewarts Creek couldn't quite finish off Cookeville in their previous meeting back in December of 2021 and fell 55-52. Can Stewarts Creek avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
