The Bethany Christian Bruins and the Caston Comets will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 10th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
Bethany Christian extended their postseason success on Saturday against Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian. They managed a 59-55 win over the Braves. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Bethany Christian had a senior duo take command as Zoe Willems dropped a double-double on 29 points and 14 rebounds and Mariah Stoltzfus scored 24 points along with five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Stoltzfus has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Caston escaped with a win on Saturday against Tri-County by the margin of a single free throw, 37-36.
Caston got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Addison Zimpleman out in front who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Zimpleman has scored at least a third of Caston's points. Isabel Scales was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds.
Bethany Christian's win bumped their record up to 18-6. As for Caston, their win bumped their record up to 21-3.
Saturday's matchup is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Bethany Christian have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 26.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Caston struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27.6 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
