The Pymatuning Valley Lakers will venture away from home to challenge the St. John Fighting Herald at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Pymatuning Valley made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Mathews, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Lakers fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 9-7 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Lakers have suffered since April 18th.
Allison Clark was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Mackenzie Kribbs, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Meanwhile, St. John won against Windham on Wednesday with 15 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Fighting Herald blew past Bristol 15-5. Winning may never get old, but the Fighting Herald sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Rylee Frasure was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Caitlyn Carney, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
St. John kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.7 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 16.2.
St. John's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-4. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 8.5 runs. As for Pymatuning Valley, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-6-1.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Pymatuning Valley hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .420. However, it's not like St. John struggles in that department as they've averaged .365. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Pymatuning Valley's way against St. John in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Pymatuning Valley made off with an 11-1 victory. Do the Lakers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Fighting Herald turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
