Even though the Burwell Longhorns have not done well against the Ravenna Bluejays recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Burwell walked away with a 42-31 win over Ravenna. For Burwell, this counts as revenge for the 61-17 defeat Ravenna walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2022.
Burwell was led to victory by Ericka Larsen and Kaitlyn Simpson. Larsen scored 8 points along with 5 rebounds, while Simpson scored 8 points along with 5 rebounds. Avery Mann was another key contributor, scoring 6 points.
Burwell now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Ravenna, they have fallen quite a ways from their 25-4 record last season and are now at 1-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Burwell will take on West Holt at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Ravenna, they will head out on the road to face off against Kearney Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Kearney Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday.
