The Timpview Thunderbirds lost to the Riverton Silverwolves back in December of 2019, but the Timpview Thunderbirds didn't allow the Riverton Silverwolves the same satisfaction on Tuesday. Timpview managed a 45-39 win over Riverton. The win made it back-to-back wins for Timpview.
Among those leading the charge was Lina Ballin, who scored 14 points along with 9 rebounds and 3 steals. Another player making a difference was Malia Latu, who scored 7 points along with 7 rebounds.
Riverton's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Faythe Stauffer, who scored 16 points. Stauffer scored a full 41% of Riverton's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Maggie Hamblin, who scored 6 points along with 12 rebounds.
Timpview now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Riverton, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Timpview will take on Pleasant Grove at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Pleasant Grove focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Tuesday. As for Riverton, they will head out on the road to face off against Davis at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday.
