The Biggersville Lions put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 57-46 victory over Corinth. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Biggersville has scored all year.
Despite the defeat, Corinth saw an underclassman step up: Xae Mayes scored 18 points. The matchup was Mayes' seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Preston Crump, who scored six points along with nine rebounds.
Biggersville pushed their record up to 6-0 with that victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Corinth, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Biggersville will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Sacred Heart of Jesus on Wednesday. Sacred Heart of Jesus will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 215th in Tennessee, while Biggersville is ranked 30th in Mississippi). Corinth will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Ripley at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Ripley and Corinth are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
