The Woodmore Wildcats lost against the Danbury Lakers back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Woodmore took a serious blow against Danbury, falling 60-20. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Woodmore has scored all season.
Maria Maringer was her usual excellent self, scoring 24 points along with four steals for Danbury. Maringer is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Maci Brown was another key contributor, scoring six points along with nine assists and three steals.
Woodmore's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-8. As for Danbury, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Woodmore will take on Gibsonburg at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Gibsonburg is coming into the matchup with five straight wins on the road, so Woodmore is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. As for Danbury, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Calvert at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Calvert will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 390th, while Danbury is ranked 166th).
