Summit Academy came out on top against American Leadership Academy on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run seventh inning. The Bears walked away with an 8-3 win over the Eagles. Surprisingly, this marked the Bears' third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.
Eli Mukhar made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Mukhar was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Sawyer Morgan was excellent, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Hunter Dewitt was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple and one run.
Summit Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in five consecutive games.
Summit Academy moved to 5-15 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for American Leadership Academy, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-18.
Coming up, Summit Academy will square off against South Summit at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Bears are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. American Leadership Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
