Redwood is a perfect 10-0 against Novato since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. Redwood will look to defend their home field against Novato at 4:30 p.m. Redwood's pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so Novato's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Redwood's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Wednesday's struggle, when San Marin hitters got past them. Redwood came up short against San Marin on Wednesday, falling 10-0. The Giants' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
Redwood saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kait Christensen, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Even though they lost, Redwood hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. This was only their first loss (out of four games) when they post two or more strikeouts.
Novato not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 26, 2024. They blew past Montgomery 9-3. The win was some much needed relief for the Hornets as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.
Claire Hannan made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3.
In other batting news, Seanna Madsen was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Allie Tubach, who went 1-for-2 with four RBI.
Redwood's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 7-6. As for Novato, their victory bumped their record up to 3-9.
Redwood took their win against Novato in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 19-0. Does Redwood have another victory up their sleeve, or will Novato turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
