The Geneva Eagles are taking a road trip to square off against the Jefferson Area Falcons at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Geneva is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
Geneva can't be too worried about heading out to take on Jefferson Area: they just beat Maplewood at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 12-3 margin over the Rockets on Saturday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.
Annabelle Bragg spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on six hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Geneva got a massive performance out of Claire Cafaro, who went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those four hits gave Cafaro a new career-high. Kailyn Cerjan was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Geneva kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Jefferson Area came up short against Edgewood on Thursday and fell 11-7. The defeat continues a trend for the Falcons in their meetings with the Warriors: they've now lost three in a row.
Makenna Stanich and Julia Sprague stepped up to the plate in a big way. Stanich went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run, while Sprague went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Those RBI marked the first that Stanich has brought in this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylee Demattia, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Geneva's record now sits at 6-7. As for Jefferson Area, they now have a losing record of 8-9.
Geneva might still be hurting after the 11-0 loss they got from Jefferson Area in their previous matchup on April 9th. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
