The Central Catholic Fighting Irish are taking a road trip to take on the Lumen Christi Catholic Titans at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Central Catholic sitting on eight straight victories and Lumen Christi Catholic on nine.
Central Catholic is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 19-1 margin over Waite. The result was nothing new for the Fighting Irish, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.
Ella Schuberg and Maeley Bragg made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Schuberg struck out 12 batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Bragg pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Schuberg has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. At bat, Schuberg went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Bragg went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most doubles Schuberg has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Addison Brinkman was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with six stolen bases, four runs, and two doubles. Those six stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mackenzie Coleman, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two triples, and one stolen base.
Central Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .743. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Waite only posted an OBP of .150.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Wednesday Lumen Christi Catholic sidestepped Napoleon for a 4-2 win.
Like Central Catholic, Lumen Christi Catholic also got a great game from a two-way player: Ollie Powers. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Powers was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
Powers wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Alison Furnas, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases.
Central Catholic pushed their record up to 16-9 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Lumen Christi Catholic, their record is now 22-7.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Central Catholic hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .355. However, it's not like Lumen Christi Catholic struggles in that department as they've averaged .314. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Central Catholic suffered a grim 12-1 defeat to Lumen Christi Catholic in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Fighting Irish avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
