West Orange is 7-0 against Mount St. Dominic Academy since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The West Orange Mountaineers will head out on the road to take on the Mount St. Dominic Academy Lions at 4:00 p.m. West Orange is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
On Saturday, West Orange faced University in a battle between two of the state's top teams. West Orange took a 50-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of University. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for West Orange in their matchups with University: they've now lost six in a row.
Despite their loss, West Orange saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Kyley Gary-Grayson, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and four steals, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Anaya Karriem, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 20 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Mount St. Dominic Academy had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Caldwell by a score of 48-35 on Thursday.
West Orange has not been sharp recently as the team has lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 16-9 record this season. As for Mount St. Dominic Academy, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.
Everything went West Orange's way against Mount St. Dominic Academy in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as West Orange made off with a 55-29 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for West Orange since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
