Estero has been on the road for five straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Lely Trojans at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Last Friday, Estero lost to Lehigh on the road by a decisive 57-40 margin.
Despite the defeat, Estero saw an underclassman step up: Amiya Lewis scored 21 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. That was a full 52.5% of Estero's points, marking the ninth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Rayne Woods was another key contributor, scoring six points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Lely entered their tilt with Golden Gate with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Lely blew past Golden Gate 53-27. Given Lely's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 208th, while Golden Gate is ranked 459th), the result on Monday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Estero's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 7-8. As for Lely, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season.
Estero was able to grind out a solid victory over Lely when the teams last played back in December of 2022, winning 49-41. Does Estero have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lely turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
