You can't lose the contest if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Mission Bay's strategy against Coronado on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Mission Bay blew Coronado out of the water with a 57-6 final score. The result was nothing new for Mission Bay, who have now won four contests by 20 points or more so far this season.
Charlie Hutchison continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 120 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries, while also throwing for 135 yards and three touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Ricky Esquer, who rushed for 134 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries.
Meanwhile, Crawford suffered a rough 37-14 loss at the hands of Patrick Henry on Thursday.
Joseph Minchello put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 91 yards and a touchdown.
Mission Bay's victory lifted them to 7-1 while Crawford's loss dropped them down to 5-3.
Thursday's game might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Mission Bay has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 156.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Crawford struggles in that department as they've been even better at 188.7 per game. It's looking like Thursday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Mission Bay didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Crawford in their previous matchup back in October of 2021, but they still walked away with a 28-22 win. Will Mission Bay repeat their success, or does Crawford have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
