Penns Grove (Carneys Point, N.J.) put an additional eight points on the board on top of its 44-point lead going into the fourth quarter to beat out Highland Regional (Blackwood, N.J.) 52-0.
The Red Devils were up 36-0 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown pass by
Nick Elmer to
Jabrail Murray in the first quarter.
Penns Grove expanded its lead to 44 points entering the fourth quarter. PG scored two times in the third, including once on a defensive touchdown.
The Carneys Point school put up 28 points in the second quarter en route to the win. The Red Devils scored on a Robertson touchdown run, a touchdown run by Robertson, a Robertson touchdown run and a Elmer touchdown pass to Murray in the quarter.
Penns Grove's standout player in the win was Robertson. The junior running back ran for three touchdowns. He has now scored 22 touchdowns on the season.
PG had given up an average of 3.7 points prior to the contest. The Tartans' zero points were well below their season average of 16.9 per game.
The Red Devils (8-0) will play a non-conference game against Pennsville Memorial next week. The Eagles have put together a 4-3 record on the year so far.
