The Skyline Eagles were the 58-33 winner over the West Panthers when they last played one another back in December of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. Skyline lost to West on the road by a decisive 67-51 margin on Friday. Skyline found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and rack up seven fewer assists than your opponent.
Despite the loss, Skyline had strong showings from Cami Groberg, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds, and Leelu Bare, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Mia Johnson, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and two blocks.
West was led to victory by Fina Tuha and Kylee Falatea. Tuha dropped a triple-double on 11 points, 11 rebounds, and ten steals, while Falatea dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. Tuha is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Laite Latu was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Skyline's loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for West, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-5.
Skyline will be playing in front of their home fans against Olympus at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Olympus is ranked 48th, while Skyline is ranked 72nd). As for West, they will head out on the road to face off against Highland at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Highland is out to stop a seven-game streak of losses at home.
