The Grafton Bearcats lost against the Tucker County Mountain Lions back in December of 2014, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Grafton fell to Tucker County 52-46. Grafton has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Grafton's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kenna Keener, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 rebounds, and Hadley Horne who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. Keener is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last 13 games she's played.
Even though they lost, Grafton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tucker County only pulled down six offensive rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Tucker County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Raven Matthews, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. Matthews is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Katie Hicks, who scored eight points along with five steals.
Grafton's loss dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Tucker County, they pushed their record up to 14-4 with that victory, which was their 19th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Grafton won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Lincoln at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th. Grafton is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 51.1 points per game this season. As for Tucker County, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Petersburg at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Tucker County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Monday.
