The Tahoma Bears will head out to face off against the Auburn Riverside Ravens at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Tahoma will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
On Wednesday, Tahoma made easy work of Stadium and carried off a 13-1 victory. Considering the Bears have won three contests by more than ten runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Taryn Jones was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Tausch, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Tahoma was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Stadium only posted a batting average of .167.
Meanwhile, Auburn Riverside gave up the first runs on Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Kentwood 6-5. The game was the first time the Ravens have beaten the Conquerors on their field since May 10, 2019.
Makenna Vircks tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits.
At the plate, Addison Opsahl was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Hannah Potter also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Tahoma's victory was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Auburn Riverside, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-2.
Tahoma beat Auburn Riverside 8-3 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bears since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
