Moline and Rock Island are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Maroons will head out to take on the Rocks at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
On Tuesday, Moline didn't have quite enough to beat Sterling and fell 8-7. The Maroons haven't had much luck with the Golden Warriors recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Emersyn Rasso was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Nicole Carman, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Rock Island got the win against Orion on Wednesday by a conclusive 11-1. The Rocks haven't had any issues with the Chargers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Lilly McDaniel made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Jozie Kerr was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of A'Rion Lonergan, who went 3-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.
Rock Island hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive matchups.
Moline's loss dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Rock Island, their record is now 12-6.
Moline suffered a grim 7-1 defeat to Rock Island in their previous matchup on April 1st. Can the Maroons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
