The St. Lawrence Central Larries fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the Chateaugay Bulldogs on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 64-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
When it comes to explaining why St. Lawrence Central lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ayden Beach. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. Beach is crushing the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Joey Perry, who scored 16 points.
St. Lawrence Central has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-8 record this season. As for Chateaugay, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-4.
St. Lawrence Central didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 66-49 victory vs. St. Regis Falls on the 9th. Chateaugay will stay at home for another game and welcome Edwards-Knox at 6:00 p.m. on February 14th. Chateaugay is facing Edwards-Knox at the right time seeing as Edwards-Knox is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
