Cowanesque Valley's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Northwest Area 60-0. Considering the Indians have won four matchups by more than 37 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Cowanesque Valley got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Dave Hess out in front who threw for 246 yards and four touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes, and also rushed for 46 yards and one TD. Kegan Lane was another key back, rushing for 184 yards and one score on only 15 carries.
Cowanesque Valley's run defense was locked in: Northwest Area could only muster 2.1 yards per carry. While four picked up at least one total tackle, Hess stood above the rest. He threw for 246 yards and four touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes, and also rushed for 46 yards and one TD. Cowanesque Valley didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 8.1.

Cowanesque Valley didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Levi Stahli. His passing game has become a key predictor of Cowanesque Valley's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 0-4 otherwise.
Meanwhile, North Penn-Mansfield played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Troy, falling 58-10. The defeat continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Trojans: they've now lost eight in a row.
Cowanesque Valley's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-4. As for North Penn-Mansfield, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 4-4.
Saturday's contest might be decided on the ground. Cowanesque Valley has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 212.1 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like North Penn-Mansfield struggles in that department as they've been averaging 161.1 rushing yards. There's a good chance Saturday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
