The River Valley Dust Devils will head out on the road to face off against the Sabino Sabercats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Friday, River Valley never let their opponents score. They blew past Chino Valley, posting a 55-0 victory at home. Considering River Valley has won five contests by more than 25 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Jayden Plotkin got back to being his usual excellent self, as he rushed for 151 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries. Plotkin was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 60 yards. Michael Saykally also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
River Valley's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Leading the way was Ben Serrano and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Sabino didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Mohave on Friday, but they still walked away with a 34-29 win.
Cameron Hackworth was on fire: he rushed for 122 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries, and also threw for 268 yards and two touchdowns while completing 81.8% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Shamar Berryhill, who picked up 87 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 7-3.
Keep an eye on the end zone in Friday's game as River Valley and Sabino haven't had much trouble getting there this season. River Valley commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 5.4 touchdowns per game. However, it's not like Sabino struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.7 per game. With these two high-octane teams facing off on Friday, fans should be in for an exciting offensive matchup.
