Las Plumas is a perfect 10-0 against Orland since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Thunderbirds will square off against the Trojans at 4:00 p.m. Las Plumas is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.8 runs per game this season.
Las Plumas' tournament run continued when they took on Roseville on Tuesday. The Thunderbirds fell 6-3 to the Tigers. The Thunderbirds have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Lexi Hobbs made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Adriana Heredia, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Orland came tearing into Friday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.4 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Bulldogs as they made off with a 14-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Jaycee Eden, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Ashlynn Baylor also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Orland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .367 or higher in three consecutive matches.
Orland pushed their record up to 11-2 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Las Plumas, their loss dropped their record down to 18-3.
Both Las Plumas and Orland just can't seem to miss. The Thunderbirds have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Orland struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.2 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Las Plumas took their victory against Orland in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 10-2 score. Do the Thunderbirds have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Trojans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
