Bangor has gone 8-2 against Pen Argyl recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Slaters will face off against the Green Knights at 4:00 p.m. Bangor is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Bangor and Wilson Area, and Wilson Area kept the tradition alive. The Slaters took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors on Monday. The game marked the first time this season in which the Slaters were not able to get on the board.
Jacob Labar was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits.
At the plate, Bangor saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nolan Koza, who went 1-for-3 with one triple. That triple was Koza's first of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pen Argyl). Everything went their way against Moravian Academy on Tuesday as they made off with a 22-4 win. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.
Lincoln Kuster made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Kuster was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his six plate appearances.
In other batting news, Lucas Lerch was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing six bases while getting on base in all six of his plate appearances. He has become a key player for Pen Argyl: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 1-2 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Cayden Vishnesky, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.
Pen Argyl always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .708. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The victory got Pen Argyl back to even at 3-3. As for Bangor, they dropped their record down to 1-4 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Bangor came out on top in a nail-biter against Pen Argyl in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 7-5. Do the Slaters have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Green Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
