The San Antonio Christian Lions will be playing in front of their home fans against the TMI-Episcopal Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Last Friday, it was a hard-fought matchup, but San Antonio Christian had to settle for a 19-17 loss against St. Joseph.
Meanwhile, TMI-Episcopal had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They really took it to St. Anthony for the full four quarters, racking up a 52-7 victory at home. With TMI-Episcopal ahead 27-0 at the half, the match was all but over already.
TMI-Episcopal found their leader in underclassman Grant Sweeney, who threw for 296 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 13.5 yards per attempt, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Worrich, who picked up 127 receiving yards and a touchdown.
San Antonio Christian's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 3-3. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged eight points per game. As for TMI-Episcopal, their victory on Friday bumped their record up to 2-4.
San Antonio Christian skirted past TMI-Episcopal 21-18 in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Will San Antonio Christian repeat their success, or does TMI-Episcopal have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
