The Anclote Sharks were the 46-40 winner over the Mitchell Mustangs when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Anclote took a serious blow against Mitchell on Wednesday, falling 65-11. Anclote was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-3.
Leading Mitchell to victory were Priya Jacob and Brianna Coure. Jacob scored 19 points along with 7 rebounds and 4 steals, while Coure dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Jacob has scored at least 25% of Mitchell's points. Kaylana Little was another key contributor, scoring 10 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals.
Anclote's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Mitchell, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Anclote will take on Clearwater Central Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Mitchell, they will head out on the road to face off against Tarpon Springs at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Tarpon Springs focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 32 on Monday.
