Granite Bay was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to second in Sierra Foothill. The Grizzlies vanquished Rocklin 41-34 earlier in the week.
The Thunder moved up to 119 from 158 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Rocklin climbed the ranks as a result of falling to Granite Bay 41-34.
Nevada Union's dynamic duo of Kyle Cota and Ian Davis proved tough for Woodcreek to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Cota threw for 324 yards and Davis had 186 yards receiving. Hank Humphers helped Nevada Union's passing attack out by catching three balls for 48 yards.
John Cooley was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 118 yards on 26 carries as Ernie Cooper's team bested the Timberwolves. Taft Partridge also contributed to the rushing game with 29 yards on the ground.
BRANDON MONROE made the biggest impact on defense this week as Del Oro topped Roseville. The 6-foot-1 senior recorded one fumble.
Nevada Union's Cota and Davis have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Sierra Foothill in both passing and receiving yards. Cota has thrown for 1452 yards this season, while Davis, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 48 catches for 833 yards. Mitchell Layton from Woodcreek leads the league in rushing with 686 yards.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when the Grizzlies take on the Golden Eagles. Granite Bay's offense has recorded 221 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while Del Oro has permitted only 142 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Grizzlies take on Casey Taylor's team. Granite Bay is currently in second, while the Golden Eagles are in fourth.
The Tigers made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 5,010 from 5,510. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 24-7 victory over Roseville last week.
