Basketball Recap: Addison Elam Key Part of a Team Effort in Mustangs Win

Sahuarita saw some tournament action on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 57-37 margin over the Tolleson Wolverines.

Sahuarita's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Addison Elam led the charge by going 7 for 11 on her way to 14 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave Elam a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Camila Villalobos, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Several Wolverines players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alek Ajak, who posted nine points. Itallia Coleman was another key player, putting up eight points.

Sahuarita has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-9 record this season. As for Tolleson, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Sahuarita wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 53-47 victory against Cienega on the 8th. As for Tolleson, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 45-19 win against Desert Edge on the 4th.
