Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Bolivar-Richburg

Bolivar-Richburg came out on top against Hinsdale Central on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run third inning. The Wolverines were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Bobcats. Considering the Wolverines have won six games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Braden Zilker made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and one double.

In other batting news, Bolivar-Richburg got a massive performance out of Landon Barkley, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Maddox Davison was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base.

Bolivar-Richburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hinsdale Central only posted an OBP of .238.

The victory (which was Bolivar-Richburg's fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Hinsdale Central, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.

Coincidentally, Bolivar-Richburg and Hinsdale Central will both be playing Genesee Valley the next time they take the field. The Bobcats will host the Jaguars at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Wolverines will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
