Elkhorn Valley got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Korbin Werner out in front who went 5 for 7 on his way to 13 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Kellyn Ollendick, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard], who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 47-32 win over Pierce on Thursday. Given the Bobcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while the Bluejays are ranked 152nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard]'s win came from a few key players Elkhorn Valley will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Michael Koenig, who posted 12 points. He is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Preston Hoke, who put up ten points and five boards.
Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard]'s victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-1. As for Elkhorn Valley, they have also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league.
