This season hasn't been kind to The Savannah Bluejackets, who are still winless after their ninth match. They suffered a tough 29-6 loss at the hands of Screven County on Friday. Savannah was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 23-0.
Screven County found their leader in underclassman Kashard Prescott, who rushed for 63 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Gatlin Scott, who rushed for a yards and a touchdown.
Savannah's loss was their ninth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-9. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 4.2 points per game. As for Screven County, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Savannah will face off against Bryan County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Bryan County presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Savannah in Georgia (Bryan County is ranked 174th, while Savannah is ranked 452nd). As for Screven County, they will head out on the road to face off against Claxton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
