It was a good run, but The Providence Day Chargers unfortunately witnessed the end of their 13-game winning streak dating back to last season on Friday. They received a tough blow as they fell 42-27 to Rabun Gap-Nacoochee. Providence Day was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Rabun Gap-Nacoochee apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
Providence Day's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Jadyn Davis, who threw for 315 yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Jordan Shipp was another key contributor, picking up 95 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Trey Horne was a one-man wrecking crew for Rabun Gap-Nacoochee as he rushed for 159 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 8.4 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Owens, who rushed for 13 yards and a touchdown.
Providence Day's defeat dropped their record down to 8-1. As for Rabun Gap-Nacoochee, their win was their ninth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 10-0.
Providence Day will be playing in front of their home fans against Charlotte Latin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Charlotte Latin comes in on a streak of failing to score more than seven points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Rabun Gap-Nacoochee, they will head out on the road to face off against Cannon [Cannon/Concord Academy] at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cannon [Cannon/Concord Academy] will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 142nd in North Carolina, while Rabun Gap-Nacoochee is ranked 12th in Georgia).
