Basketball Recap: Tytus Billingsly Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Bear Creek

After losing to Bear Creek the last time they met, Edison decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Edison Vikings came out on top against the Bear Creek Bruins by a score of 63-52 on Wednesday. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 209th, while the Bruins are ranked 419th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Edison's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tytus Billingsly, who went 8 for 15 en route to 17 points. That's the most points Billingsly has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Alonzo Ward, who posted 15 points and seven boards.

Edison smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in five consecutive games.

Several Bruins players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Eddie Andeola, who scored 18 points. Elijah Duncan was another key player, putting up 16 points.

Edison has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a massive bump to their 15-9 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.9 points per game. As for Bear Creek, they moved to 13-10 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Edison wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 64-56 defeat against Weston Ranch on the 31st. As for Bear Creek, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 89-48 win against Franklin on the 31st.
