Softball Recap: Westside Sets Scoring Season-High Against Southside

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Westside). They were the clear victors by a 29-0 margin over the Southside Tigers on Thursday. The victory was familiar territory for the Rams, who have now won five contests in a row.

Jazelyn Robinson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Samantha Haney was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Madison Gray was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3.

Westside kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in nine consecutive matches.

Westside's record now sits at 9-5. As for Southside, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-11 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westside will host T.L. Hanna at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Southside, they will welcome Greenville H at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
