Overton has won eight straight games at home, while Beckville has won eight straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Tuesday. The Mustangs will host the Bearcats at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Friday, Overton made easy work of Union Grove and carried off an 11-2 win. The victory continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won five in a row.

Kelsey Vaught was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off nine hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three doubles, three RBI, and two runs. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Bryleigh Nelson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. Kasha Williams was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
Overton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Beckville challenged Harleton on Friday. The Bearcats put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 13-1 win.
Like Overton, Beckville also got a great game from a two-way player: Emily Grandgeorge. On the mound, she struck out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). Grandgeorge was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaitlyn Mauritzen, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Londyn Courtney, who scored three runs and stole a base.
Overton's victory bumped their record up to 16-8-1. As for Beckville, their win bumped their record up to 20-7-2.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Overton hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Beckville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Overton couldn't quite get it done against Beckville when the teams last played back in April of 2019 as they fell 11-6. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
