Two dominant signal callers in Gehrig Orchard and Nate Dahle are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Provo Bulldogs will square off against the Ridgeline Riverhawks at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Provo comes in on seven and Ridgeline on 12.
Provo is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They took down Hurricane 28-13. The Bulldogs' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
The critical scores for Provo came from Orchard, Griffin Demartini, Teave Brown, and Ronnie Wright.
Provo didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Hurricane to a completion percentage of just 36.8%. The Bulldogs hasn't an opponent to post a completion percentage of 0.5 or higher in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Ridgeline against Park City on Friday as the squad secured a 49-3 victory. Fans of the Riverhawks have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.
Provo better keep an eye on Noah Fiefia. He was instrumental in Ridgeline's win, rushing for 73 yards and one touchdown, while also picking up 41 receiving yards.
Ridgeline didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Cooper Clark. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Provo's record is now 8-4. As for Ridgeline, their record now sits at 12-0.
We should be in store for an exciting game as the two teams have no problem gaining yardage. Provo has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 387.3 total yards per game. However, it's not like Ridgeline struggles in that department as they've been averaging 524.2 total yards. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
Provo lost to Ridgeline on the road by a decisive 27-13 margin in their previous matchup back in August of 2016. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
