Monarch and South Plantation are an even 3-3 against one another since February of 2015, but likely not for long. The Knights will face off against the Paladins at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
Friday just wasn't the day for Monarch's offense. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pembroke Pines Charter on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, the Knights' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Monarch saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mylie Carlson, who went 2-for-3 with one double.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for South Plantation, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They blew past Pembroke Pines Charter 11-4 on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Paladins, who have now won six games by seven runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Grace Boehly, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Tessa Bertsch, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
South Plantation kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pembroke Pines Charter only managed six hits.
South Plantation has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Monarch, they moved to 9-9 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Monarch hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .404. However, it's not like South Plantation struggles in that department as they've averaged .349. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Monarch couldn't quite get it done against South Plantation in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 as they fell 5-0. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
