After low-scoring totals in their previous four contest, Magnolia brought some dynamite into their most recent game. They walked away with a 36-28 win over the Savanna Rebels on Thursday. The game was the first time the Sentinels have beaten the Rebels on their field since October 3, 2019.
Nicko Mendoza had an outrageously good game as he threw for 229 yards and four TDs while picking up 10.9 yards per attempt. Magnolia's leading receiver Tyaun Buchanan was Mendoza's top target yet again, picking up 81 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Magnolia proved: they limited Savanna to a paltry two yards per carry. While two picked up at least seven total tackles, Emiliano Ramirez stood above the rest. He rushed for 30 yards and one score, and also picked up 60 receiving yards. That's the most yards per carry they've posted since back in November of 2024.
Magnolia's defense didn't let Nate Eich, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. Leading the way was Cristian Martinez with two.
Issic Alonzo and Eich certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Alonzo picked up 100 receiving yards and a pair of TDs, while Eich threw for 138 yards and two touchdowns.
Magnolia moved to 2-5 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Savanna, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Magnolia will welcome Century at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Savanna, they will face off against Saddleback at 6:30 p.m. on the 10th.
