After a string of four wins, the Conneaut Spartans's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They were the victim of a rough 67-41 defeat at the hands of Geneva. While losing is never fun, Conneaut can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 451st, while the Eagles are ranked 149th).
Several Spartans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alexis Kiser, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Isabella Fix was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 15 rebounds.
Conneaut's loss dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Geneva, they pushed their record up to 14-3 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Conneaut will take on the Blue Streaks at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday. As for Geneva, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Dragons at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Lakeside has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 20.
