Mountain View is 2-8 against the Eagles since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Mountain View Lobos will head out on the road to take on the San Elizario Eagles at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Mountain View focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Tuesday.
A well-balanced attack led Mountain View over the Wildcats in every quarter on their way to victory. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Mountain View blew the Wildcats out of the water with a 66-35 final score. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 29-9.
Jared Maciel and Julian Escobedo were among the main playmakers for Mountain View as the former scored 16 points along with six rebounds and five assists and the latter scored 22 points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Slosar, who scored six points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, San Elizario had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They walked away with a 47-37 win over Riverside.
Mountain View is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-18 record this season. As for San Elizario, their victory bumped their record up to 16-13.
Mountain View was able to grind out a solid win over the Eagles in their previous matchup back in January, winning 45-37. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mountain View since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
