The Monache Marauders will challenge the Golden West Trailblazers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Monache's defense has only allowed 13.4 points per game this season, so Golden West's offense will have their work cut out for them.
Monache will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up 13 points last Friday, then bounced right back against Mt. Whitney on Friday. The Marauders blew past the Pioneers 35-7. The Marauders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by 28 points or more this season.
Cooper Baxter had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 212 yards and one touchdown while picking up 9.6 yards per carry. He was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 60 yards. Derrick Ziegler was in the mix too, providing Monache with one score.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Monache proved: they limited Mt. Whitney to a paltry 2.6 yards per carry. The team can thank Benicio Mendoza for the heroic effort on defense: he. Monache didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 7.4.
Monache didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Baxter and Isaiah Robles. Monache received some extra help from Ziegler, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Meanwhile, Golden West entered their contest against Redwood on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Trailblazers took a 26-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rangers. The game marked the Trailblazers' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
Monache will need to focus on slowing down Cadillac Pina, one of several Golden West players who made an impact when they last played. He picked up 94 receiving yards and one TD.
Monache has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 35.2 points over those games. As for Golden West, their loss dropped their record down to 6-2.
Monache was taken down by Golden West 45-7 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Marauders were down 39-0.
