Baseball Recap: Chugiak Snags Third Victory in Last Four Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Eagle River, Chugiak was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They never let the Bartlett Golden Bears get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Mustangs considering their two-run performance the contest before.

The team relied heavily on Cole Lux, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Carron, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Chugiak always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. They are 3-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Chugiak is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Bartlett, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Chugiak is set to take on their familiar foe Service at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Bartlett will challenge rival South Anchorage at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
