The Mission Bay Buccaneers will head out to take on the San Diego Cavers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Mission Bay's pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so San Diego's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Mission Bay is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Crawford on Wednesday as they made off with a 16-0 victory. The Buccaneers haven't had any issues with the Colts recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Abby Nelson made a big impact no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

Meanwhile, San Diego fell victim to Morse and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They came up short against the Tigers, falling 10-0. Having soared to a lofty 20 runs in the game before, the Cavers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
San Diego saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madison McNamara, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three stolen bases. With that strong performance, McNamara is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game.
Mission Bay pushed their record up to 9-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for San Diego, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Mission Bay has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like San Diego struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Mission Bay beat San Diego 12-7 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Buccaneers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
